March 16,  2006

Greetings from Nick's Pizza Stop

…..and welcome to the March 2006 edition of Nick’s E-News

A New Look for Nick's
This month we've launched our new website, and that's just one of a series of changes we've recently implemented as we move into our third year serving you. Our new Nick's T-shirts and custom pizza boxes, both bearing the Nick's logo designed by Scott Palmer, were introduced in mid-winter. An updated dining room menu - with new items including Stromboli - will arrive soon. The dining room itself is getting a bit of a facelift, too. The first step was completed with the arrival of new tables, each featuring a different section of the official tax map of Grantville - city residents are invited to find their house and mark their location on mini-maps at the service counter.

Off-Menu Specials
This spring, we'll be offering fresh spinach for pizzas, salads and stromboli. We also continue to offer the Garden Walk (veggie) and Athenian (gyros meat) pizzas. Occasionally, we'll offer calzones (similar to stromboli, but with Ricotta cheese filling,) and Pasta Salads. You can also expect to see Tiramisu and mixed berries with cream as featured desserts throughout the season.

As the weather heats up, Hawaiian wings and new BBQ variations will rotate through our wing flavor selection ...Caribbean Spice wings are currently back by popular demand and our Apple Cider-Glazed wings are also slated for a return appearance.

Reduced-calorie Ranch dressing will be available for dine-in customers all summer, and the summer dine-in drink selection will be expanded to include Crystal Light flavored waters and, occasionally, iced coffee. (Don't forget, Nick's sells Luzianne Iced Tea by the gallon for take-out and delivery!)

Can You Survive a Trainwreck?
Okay, all you Works pizza lovers, we've got a treat for you! Step it up next time and go for the Trainwreck pizza - twenty toppings piled high on Nick's famous crust!  We're launching a Trainwreck Hall of Fame for repeat wreckers, and each quarter, random Hall of Fame members will be recognized with a special notice in our dining room. The Sullivan Wrecker Prize is named for its first recipients - Marianne and John R. Sullivan, Sr. of Moreland. Winners will also be awarded a certificate for one free Trainwreck Pizza and a free Nick's T-shirt. To be named to the Hall of Fame, you must order at least three Trainwreck pizzas in a three month period.

Fabulous Fashion and Free Food!
Now through April 30 - buy a Nick's T-shirt and get a free 10" cinnamon stix! Shirts come in red, burgundy and forest green. Color selection will vary by size; adult and youth sizes are available. Shirts are $10 for youth sizes and $15 for adult sizes. Later this year we'll be offering special treats and discounts to folks wearing their Nick's T-shirts around town! (More merchandise)

Investing in your Health
Chef Nick and Piazziolo Micheal recently attended a food safety workshop offered by the county health department, and Nick will be updating his ServSafe certification soon. Nick's has recently invested in a linen service, improved sanitizing products, and better food storage facilities to protect the health of our customers. We are also working to make more fresh and low-calorie options available to you.

Dine In At Nick's and Sample Something New!
In our quest to encourage more of you to enjoy the Nick's experience on Main Street, we are offering free samples of our appetizers - including fried ravioli, boneless chicken wings, and meatballs parmesan - to regular delivery customers who dine with us Tuesday through Thursday before the end of April. If you prefer, you can try any pizza topping at no charge. You must ask for this special when placing your order.

Our newest team member, Casey Parks, will be assisting Kim in the dining room a few nights a week beginning this month. Kim will continue to take your order at the counter and Casey will attend to your table. We are considering the addition of a dedicated dining room server, but need to hear from you if that will make a difference in your decision to dine with Nick's!

Fun for Kid's at Nick's Pizza Stop!
April 15 marks the launch of our new Conductor Club - a birthday party club for kids under 12.  Choose from a selection of party packages - we'll offer themed in-house parties as well as party packages for delivery - including everything you need for a great celebration. The birthday kid will receive a special greeting from Chef Nick and a Conductor Club kit including a Nick's T-shirt, souvenir certificate and a Conductor Club membership card. Club members are eligible for Conductor Club Specials each month for a full year following their party. Look for details on our website next month.

Kids ages 5 - 16 are invited to participate in the Nick's Pizza Stop Grantville Days Creativity Contest. There will be several age levels and two categories of competition - Pizza Box decorating and Local Lore (drawing or painting a scene related to Grantville history or life in Grantville today.) Official entry forms will be available in mid-April. Entries will be displayed at Nick's during the week leading up to Grantville Days (June 10 and 11,) and customers will help choose the winning entries.  Decorated pizza boxes will remain on display throughout the summer.

For the younger bunch, we are pleased to announce the addition of two fun items to our collection of Nick's toys offered for the entertainment of children visiting our dining room. The Pizza Party for ages four and up is a wooden play set that lets you "create, slice and serve" your pretend pizza. Take & Make Pizza Food Fun encourages kids aged two and older to create their pizza using fabric crusts and toppings - and even includes a box oven so the kids can pretend to bake their pizza! Both toys require adult supervision and can be requested at the service counter.

Fun for Adults, too! We also offer chess, backgammon, dominoes and other adult and family games for enjoyment in our dining room.  Please ask at the counter.

Grantville Business News
A city business license is all that is required for membership in the Grantville Coalition of Independent Businesses, a group of local merchants and service providers networking together to improve our businesses and our city. There are no membership dues; participation in activities makes you a member.

Our current focus is on the Grantville Gateway Project, an effort to improve the appearance of the primary point of entry into the central part of the city, the intersection of Highway 29 and Griffin Street.  We are also exploring opportunities for joint-advertising in print and broadcast media.

For a membership letter, email Kim at Grantville.Net, or simply join us at our March meeting, 8 p.m., March 26 at Grantville Tax & Accounting downtown.  Our April meeting will be an afternoon social sponsored by Images Photography, Nick's Pizza Stop, and Grantville Tax & Accounting. Please contact one of these businesses to put your name on the mailing list to receive details about that event.

Speaking of Grantville Tax and Accounting - April 15 will be here soon! Dwayne Cook can provide expert assistance with your tax filing! Dwayne also offers routine accounting services to individuals and small businesses.

New Website
We hope you enjoy our new website! We encourage you to explore it and give us your feedback.

Nick's Calendar
Happy Birthday, Mike Brown (that's the "Pizza Man" to all you delivery customers!) Mike celebrates the big Five-Oh on Friday, March 24.  Yes, he'll be celebrating by delivering pizzas!

On Wednesday, April 19, Nick's will be closed. The Nick's team will be attending a trade show all day, followed by a staff training dinner.

Our next special event dinner will be the Grantville Founders' Dinner, on Saturday, June 10 (Grantville Days Weekend.) Details of our nineteenth-century menu will be announced in May. Nick's will be closed that night, but we'll be serving up something special during Grantville Days festivities that afternoon!

Thank you for your business. We appreciate your support!

buona fortuna su voi
