April

2006
Greetings from
Nick's Pizza Stop!
…..and welcome
to the April 2006 edition of Nick’s E-News
Thank You from Nick's
Just want to say a
quick thank you for a spectacular March. Last month we hosted a record
number of new and returning customers, and we are excited to note a rise in
the number of regular dine-in customers. The newest team member, Casey
Parks - our "houseback" (assistant in the front of the house) - has gotten
quite an introduction to his new job in light of a new trend in Friday night
dine-ins. Many of you have made an extra effort to welcome Casey - a fun
twist since he's been told it's his job to make you feel welcome!
Thank you for that. And if you haven't checked out Nick's dining room
lately - drop in and see us soon!
Off-Menu Specialty Items
For the remainder of April, we will continue to offer Calzones and Caribbean
Spice ("Jerk") wings. Most nights we also have fresh spinach for salads,
pizza, calzones and stromboli.
Grantville Business News
The Grantville Coalition of Independent Businesses invites
Grantville area business owners (including Hogansville, Luthersville
and Moreland) to a family picnic in Colley Park, Sunday April 23 at
4:00 p.m. Light picnic fare will be served (attendees are
welcome to bring a "covered dish.") Admission is free; a copy of your
current business license (city or county) is required for admission to
the food service area. Area residents working as independent agents
(insurance, real estate, etc.) are also encouraged to attend.
Don't forget your business cards! RSVP to
Dwayne at Grantville Tax
& Accounting.
New business in town - Heavenly Tanning has opened in "the grey
building" downtown across the tracks from Nicks. Ramponi Design
Studio, formerly located a few shops down from us, has relocated to
the spot next door to Nick's and will be adding a Tea Room to the back
of their home decor & interior design shop.
Images Art Gallery & Photography across from Nick's is open by
appointment in April and May. Proprietor Deborah Smith has a busy
spring calendar of showings and shoots (she'll no doubt make an
appearance at the Newnan Art Walk on Saturday, April 22.) You can
reach Deborah at 678-850-1868. If you know what you are after, Kim is
also available to open the shop when Deborah is away on business
(770-583-2419.)
Get Connected! Visit the G-Net Forum
Kim's pet project is a community website,
www.grantville.net
intended to help residents (old and new alike) learn more about their
community and how to get involved. The newest addition to G-Net
is the Forum, where visitors can post public messages and respond to
the messages posted by others. With your help, the Forum can
become the best source of meaningful news for Grantville area
residents, and a great way for folks to connect with one another. The
Forum has only been around for a few days... your help in generating
some lively conversation will be most appreciated! (If you need help
understanding how to use it, contact
kim@grantville.net) Look for
the Forum link on the
G-Net
homepage.
April Community Events
Monday, April 24, Historic Preservation Commission
training delivered by a representative of Chattahoochee-Flint
Regional Development Center. All residents are welcome to attend and
learn more about the HPC and historic preservation. 7:35 in the
Community Room at city hall. (City Council Meeting at 6:30 - it may or
may not be over by 7:35.)
Saturday, April 29 - City-wide Clean-Up Day. Watch local
newspapers for details regarding Grantville's participation in an
effort to clean up our communities. Councilwoman Rochelle Jabaley will
release more details as they become available. If you are booked that
day, contact councilman Scott Palmer about how you can be part of the
Citizen Committee for City Beautification. (On a related note, many
thanks to Sally from Southeastern Interiors/Grantville Associates for
the work she's been doing on the Main Street tree planters!)
Nick's Calendar
On Wednesday, April 19, Nick's will be closed.
The Nick's team will be attending a trade show all day, followed by a
staff training dinner.
Thursday, April
20 and Friday, April 21 Nick's will have limited service. Nick will be
out of town and we are therefore likely to reduce delivery service and/or
limit the menu since Mike will be helping out in the kitchen.
Saturday, April
22, Nick's will be closed. Nick will still be out of town and Kim will
be attending alumnae weekend activities at Agnes Scott College.
On Tuesday, April 25, Alvista Senior Center Volunteer
Appreciation Dinner. This event is not actually "at " Nick's but
Chef Nick is preparing a lasagna dinner to be served at Alvista Senior
Center in Greenville. In 2005 Nick delivered a spaghetti dinner to the
center, and we are honored to be part of their 2006 Volunteer
Appreciation dinner. We do not anticipate any effect on our regular
service that evening. (On a related note, we'll have a repeat of last
year's Senior Lunch for Pointe Magnolia and Grantville Senior Center
later this summer. Watch for details here.)
Friday, April 28, we'll host our Annual Grantville City
Employees Luncheon at Nick's. We will be open for regular service
during this luncheon and encourage Grantville residents to drop in to
meet some of the folks who keep our city running.
Friday, May 5, Nick's may have limited delivery service. Reggie
and Casey will be graduating from Newnan High School this night
(congratulations!) We are hopeful that menu limitations will not be
necessary, but depending on volume it may be necessary to scale back
deliveries.
Our next schedule
modification is expected on Memorial Day weekend. Details to be announced in
May news.
You'll Get Mail (soon, we hope)
The next print edition of Nick's News is under
development. Please let us know if you have suggestions for our print
newsletter. If you live outside of zip code 30220, please email your mailing
address to us!
Coming Soon
We are a bit behind
schedule putting together details of the Conductor Club birthday parties and
the Grantville Days Creativity Contest but we'll post those here as soon as
we can! There are lots of other fun activities and menu changes on the
drawing board, so stay tuned.
Thank you for
your business. We appreciate your support!
buona fortuna su voi
